Q. When is Give Big Gallatin Valley?
Give Big Gallatin Valley 2018 will take place from 6 pm on May 3 to 6 pm on May 4.
Q. Which organizations can participate?
Organizations that are verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits that are headquartered or provide services in Gallatin County are eligible to participate if registered by March 30th.
Q. Is there a fee to participate?
Yes. Registration fees help support the marketing infrastructure of the day and build buy-in. Registration fees are on a sliding scale based off of your organization's budget size. Organizations with a budget less than $100k pay $60. Organizations with a budget between $100k and $500k pay $85. Organizations with a budget over $500k pay $110.
Q. Why should my organization participate?Great question! The Give Big team always supports giving directly to the nonprofit of your choice. That's why we've designed a platform this year that will allow you to do just that - all throughout the year - by enabling you to come back and give again and/or schedule a recurring gift.
While we encourage year-round and annual giving, here are the 5 main reasons to give through Give Big as well:
1.) Year after year, Give Big helps raise awareness for the sector. By coming together on one day, we are able to leverage all of our resources to promote all of the good work charities are doing in our region!
2.) Give Big exists to support, equip, and serve the local nonprofit community through free workshops and tools and templates that can be used to fundraise year-round. Our hope is help equip each and every agency in our county foot-print with the tools they need to thrive!
3.) By providing access to year-round online fundraising pages, Give Big provides many small agencies with the opportunity to engage with donors in new and fun ways while promoting social sharing!
4.) Last year, Give Big provided over $20,000 in Prize and Stretch Pool funds to agencies that participated in the event. This money was spread out amongst the different size participants and enabled agencies to maximize their efforts!
5.) Giving is contagious and the by creating an entire event dedicated to giving, we can come together as a community and encourage our friends and family to give to the causes we love the most. With so many new agencies to discover, there's something for everyone!
Q. Who can donate?
Anyone may donate. Donations through the Give Big Gallatin Valley online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Q. What is GiveGab?
GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
Q. Why do you require the last four digits of the nonprofit administrator’s Social Security number and date of birth for a nonprofit’s donation payouts?
GiveGab is an online platform that collects, processes, and distributes money in the form of donations from supporters to organizations, and they fall under certain regulations, in particular, for US based organizations, they are required to abide by the compliance laws that are part of the Patriot Act.
In short, GiveGab needs to verify that the individual who is signing up an organization to collect donations, is who they say they are and is authorized to do so. And, we need to verify that the organization is a legitimately registered corporation. Collecting this information helps us streamline donation processing and payouts with our underlying payment processor (Stripe) and the financial institutions that they work with. More importantly, we have a duty to our users that when they choose to support a cause with a monetary gift, that money is going where they expect it to go! You can read a full explanation here, including how this information is stored.
Q. How will donations be distributed?
Each donation made to a participating nonprofit will be disbursed directly from GiveGab via direct deposit within 24-48 hours. Donations made via check will be mailed 4-6 weeks after Give Big from BACF.
Q. How much of donations goes to my nonprofit?
Of your donation, only 4.2% + $0.30 will be retained by the credit card companies and GiveGab. The complete breakdown is as follows:
2% service charge from GiveGab for building and maintaining the hosting site. This is the only cost accrued by GiveGab and it goes to cover site building and maintenance, live event customer service, and donation processing.
NEW FOR 2018: 2.2% + $0.30 is charged on all transactions made with any card provider. In past years, fees have been higher for transactions with American Express. These are standard charges from each credit card company for donations made online.
You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.
The Bozeman Area Community Foundation does not receive any portion of donations during Give Big!
Q. As a donor, who will we receive my contact information?
The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. Nonprofits can also choose to collect phone number and physical addresses. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities. Nobody else will retain your contact information. If you choose to give anonymously, your donation will be listed as anonymous on the website. Organizations will be notified that you gave anonymously, but they will still have access to your name and contact information on their donation reports.
Q. Can donors make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit http://www.givebiggv.org on your mobile device.
Q. How do matching gifts work for my nonprofit?
Matches are a great way to engage committed supporters of your organization and engage new and smaller donors by helping their gift go farther. Plus GiveGab makes matches easy for your organization! Gifts to be used as matches can be made directly to your organization before, during, or after Give Big depending on what works best for your organization and your donor. As the organization, you simply add the match to your profile from your Giving Day dashboard. You can customize the time frame, name of the match, amount, and more. As gifts come in on Give Big that are matched, our platform automatically adds the gift and the match to your total. Visit the "Trainings" and "Nonprofit Toolkit" pages for more information about matches.
Q. Who do I contact for help with the registration process?
If you have questions related to the Giving Day platform or your profile, please contact GiveGab support in the blue chat bubble at the bottom right of your screen.
If you have questions related to logistics or local considerations, please contact BACF Programs Manger Darby Lacey at email@example.com.
Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request that we contact your organization of choice. Registration is open until March 30th so they just may not have registered yet.
