Q. What is Give Big Gallatin Valley?

Give Big Gallatin Valley is a day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Give Big Gallatin Valley is powered by the Bozeman Area Community Foundation and presented by the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation. In just three years, our community has raised  $1,361,272.01 in unrestricted funding through 10,056 gifts during Give Big. Last year alone, Give Big exceeded our goal to raise $500,000 by raising $707,775.35 in just 24-hours for 168 local nonprofits.

Q. When is Give Big Gallatin Valley?

Give Big Gallatin Valley 2018 will take place from 6 pm on May 3 to 6 pm on May 4.

Q. Who puts on Give Big Gallatin Valley?

The Bozeman Area Community Foundation is the driving force behind Give Big Gallatin Valley. We do not take a portion of gifts on Give Big day. We only receive gifts made directly to our profile, and we are ineligible to win prizes. Our mission is to connect people who care to causes that matter to build a better community. We nurture local philanthropy in three ways:

  1. We strengthen nonprofits.
  2. We connect donors to causes they care about.
  3. We inspire a culture of giving.

Give Big is possible because of our generous sponsors. All sponsors are listed on the home page. We would like to provide extra thanks to the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation, our presenting sponsor!

Q. Which organizations can participate?

Organizations that are verified 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits that are located in and serving in Gallatin County are eligible to participate if registered by March 30th.

Q. Who can donate?

Anyone may donate! Donations through the Give Big Gallatin Valley online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card online or via check at our Check Donation Station at First Interstate Bank during Give Big. Donations will be processed and receipted by GiveGab.

The Check Donation Station will be open at First Interstate Bank in Bozeman (202 W. Main St.) from 10am - 4pm on Friday, May 4th only. Please make checks payable to the Bozeman Area Community Foundation.

Q. How will donors be able to search for and donate to a nonprofit?

Donors will be able to search for a nonprofit directly from can search for nonprofits by name, community, and cause categories. Underneath the search function, there is also a “Show Me the Underdog” function that will display the organizations who could use an extra boost with their Give Big campaign!

To donate online go to your nonprofit of choice’s profile and click the donate button!

Q. Can I give to more than one organization at a time?

Yes! If giving online, look for the button that says “Give to Multiple Organizations”.

If giving at the Check Donation station, use the additional lines to give to more than one organization.

Q. Is there a minimum or maximum credit card gift?

The minimum donation is $10. The maximum gift will be determined by the donor’s generosity and credit card limit.

Q. Are gifts tax-deductible?

All gifts are 100% tax deductible and will be for the unrestricted use by the recipient organization.

Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is an online giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.

Q. How will donations be distributed?

Each donation made to a participating nonprofit will be disbursed directly from GiveGab’s payment processor, Stripe, via direct deposit within 3 business days. All offline donations received through the Check Donation station and prizes will be mailed to nonprofits within one month after Give Big.

Q. How will donations be reported on the donors credit card statement?

The statement will show a charge for each organization to which a donation was made. It will show GiveGab-[organization name].

Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

Of your donation, only 4.2% + $0.30 will be retained by the credit card companies and GiveGab. The complete breakdown is as follows:

2% service charge from GiveGab for building and maintaining the hosting site. This is the only cost accrued by GiveGab and it goes to cover site building and maintenance, live event customer service, and donation processing.

NEW FOR 2018: 2.2% + $0.30 is charged on all transactions made with any card provider. In past years, fees have been higher for transactions with American Express. These are standard charges from each credit card company for donations made online.

You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.

No fees will be retained from gifts made at the Check Donation station.

The Bozeman Area Community Foundation does not receive any portion of donations during Give Big!

Q. Can donors designate how a nonprofit uses their gifts?

Gifts made during Give Big are considered unrestricted gifts to the nonprofit.

Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. Nonprofits can also choose to collect phone number and physical addresses. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities. If you choose to give anonymously, your donation will be listed as anonymous on the website. You have the option to have your name and donation amount displayed anonymously on the Give Big main page and the organization’s page. To make your name and amount anonymous, select one or both boxes under the “Optional” heading of the Donation form. Organizations will be notified that you gave anonymously, but they will still have access to your name and contact information on their donation reports.

Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No, you do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donation opportunities. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.

Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit on your mobile device.

Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?

If your preferred organization is not listed, that means they did not register for Give Big this year. Reach out to them to encourage them to participate next year! We encourage you to use the “Search” function on to find other causes that match your passions!
